Foreign direct investment (FDI) to Canada continued to grow at a healthy pace in 2022, surpassing the 10-year average. This section provides the numbers and analysis using reported data from Statistics Canada and FDI activity data. TOTAL STOCK OF FDI IN CANADA
FDI stock reached $1.3 trillion in 2022, up 33% over the 10-year average of $952.5 billion. For each dollar of GDP generated in the Canadian economy, Canada has $0.67 in FDI stock. This puts Canada 2nd among G7 countries and 31% higher than the OECD average.
